PHONEBLOKS A Phone Worth Keeping

The latest project which is being given a great deal of attention and dedicated efforts by the Motorola Company is the brainchild of Dave Hakkens, “Phonebloks”. Phonebloks, a concept phone that is built from detachable bloks that allows a user to switch out components as and when they want, looks set to become a reality. Phonebloks creator Hakkens, describes his design as a “phone worth keeping”.

A phone that you can easily upgrade, repair and customize — with the ability to upgrade piece by piece and never experience obsolescence again. As new and better bloks are developed you simply swap out the component block on your phone and exchange it with the new one. You could also personalize your phone in a manner of prioritizing between apps and features for instance if you don’t feel the need for a camera in your phone then you could remove it and use a bigger battery block instead.

Motorola believe in empowering its users to be able to choose what their phone does, how it looks, where and what it’s made of, how much it costs, and how long they’ll keep it. Therefore, they are trying to bring people together and start a movement to make this idea come to life.
